The Money Heist is one of the most important streaming phenomena in recent years among Spanish-speaking viewers since its first broadcast, on May 2, 2017. Four years later, and after many months of waiting, finally season 5, volume 1 , is now available on Netflix. Here in CVBJ.biz we have told you our impressions in our usual review. Of course, before enjoying the series it is important that you know all the context that surrounds it.
Within the cast, the most recognizable figure is Úrsula Corberó, to the point that the actress not only prevailed within the narrative but also became a kind of pop icon. From references in reggaeton songs, through artists like Bad Bunny, to participation in music videos of the genre. Added to this is his recent performance in GI Joe: Snake Eyes.
However, La casa de papel transcends her. From the teacher, who weaves the networks of action and care, to the personality of each of those involved in the process. Although the narrative of the Netflix series seems to be running out, the suspicion is that there will be few who will be hooked back to the adventures of a handful of criminals as of this September 3, 2021.
What you need to know about La casa de papel, season 5
Several of the most important characters are still part of the story. The Professor (Álvaro Morte), Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó), Denver (Jaime Lorente) and Río (Miguel Herrán), to name just a few, continue to be part of the series. Some issues that have changed is their role. From the initial robbery to subsequent chases, what started in a bank transcended. The characters in La casa de papel, at this point in the story, have already traveled the world trying to find some peace.
On those trips, Rio was caught. Here is one of the key nodes of the story. Due to his capture, Rio was tortured. When the Professor found out, he made the fact public. Its objective was to generate a change in public opinion, so that criminals would stop being seen as such and become a kind of martyrs. In a transversal way, this took the story to another level: it became a matter of State with global reach.
After this, in La casa de papel one of the important events in the recent history of the series takes place: Rio and Tokyo separate. Why is this important? Because, in the most recent trailer for the series, they both seem to be back. Through different events, Tokyo is taking greater responsibility until occupying a leadership role within the organization. Separated and persecutors, within the story the different needs arise that they must address as a whole.
This ranges from personal problems to solving basic needs, such as hunger. Digged in again, the authorities have no choice but to bet on the entire armed force at their disposal to arrest the group. Then, the Bank of Spain, where they all meet progressively, after escaping from their arrests in some cases, becomes a point of honor for the authorities. As if they said: we must regain control of the entity.
The role of the Teacher and the dimension of the series
The Professor being essential within the narrative of La casa de papel. It is the brain of the organization. Judging by what is seen in the preview of the series, it may end up exposed. Therefore, leaving the band senseless. Although this may seem like something not very important, considering that different members of the group have evolved and made decisions, the Professor is the sense for them.
His role, in the current scenario in which tension abounds, seems more important than at other times. Decision making becomes even more necessary. One detail must be taken into account: unlike other times, the gang will no longer face police groups but an army. That elevates the Netflix story to another universe, within the plane of action.
Escaping a bit of the plot, it is convenient to take into account some questions. The paper house was positioned until this present successful in a quite organic way, with a word of mouth that was generating stimuli. The posters that are now promoting it were not there from the beginning. Having so deeply penetrated the followers is almost exclusive merit of the Netflix production directed by Álex Pina.
To this is added something no less, generated by the series, as César Noragueda explains: “the filmmakers of this European country have finally understood that the series can no longer be made as before, (…) planning is useless soda and the simple montages that they have been offering us until the other day ”. This type of transformation, which escapes the narrative and alters the way of making other content, is the factor by which the creations manage to mark an era.
The fifth season of La casa de papel will be released in two series of five episodes. Volume 1, which is available today, and Volume 2, which can be enjoyed from December 3 of this year through Netflix.
