After a week of intense seismic activity in the area of Old Summit, on La Palma (Canary Islands), the volcano has finally erupted. At 15:30 (16:30 Peninsular time) one of the lava flows exploded on the island. An event that was expected since last Saturday, September 11, when the swarm began with more than 25,000 earthquakes. The authorities had already decreed the amber alert in the area, including Los Llanos, Fuencaliente, El Paso and Mazo.
After an event of seismic magnitude of 4.2 And after a complicated early morning with some of the most important tremors, during this morning the evacuation began in the nuclei of Las Manchas (Las Manchas de Abajo, Jedey, San Nicolás and El Paraíso), which includes the municipalities of El Paso and Los llanos de Aridane. In El Charco (Fuencaliente), La Bombilla (Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte) and El Remo and in Puerto Naos (Los Llanos de Aridane). First to people with reduced mobility and then to the entire general population.
At the moment the volcanic traffic light, but civil protection actions are intensifying on La Palma. The Technical Directorate is also empowered to activate the selective evacuation of other areas of Cumbre Vieja, if necessary. The estimated population is 1,000 people.

Some that have forced the study teams in the area to withdraw to other safe positions. Large lava explosions and the first lava flows are also beginning to be observed throughout the area.
The authorities of the area and the committee of experts in the area cannot assure, so far, new eruptions throughout the day or intensification of the current one.
They recommend notifying the authorities call 112 in case of tremors, changes in the surface of the area, noise, gases, ash or increase in the temperature of well water.
