Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini has achieved his first 50 victories in European competition as one of the most historic coaches in Spanish football. With the victory over Ferencvárosi on matchday two of the group stage, the coach has 14 victories in the Europa League and another 30 in the Champions League and six in the Intertoto Cup.
The Chilean, who took the reins of the Andalusian club last in the summer of 2020, has returned Real Betis to the Europa League after finishing his first season at the helm of the project in sixth position in LaLiga. With 17 victories during the course, the Betis finished only one point behind Real Sociedad and three ahead of Villarreal, who entered the Champions League as Europa League champion.

Manuel Pellegrini’s extensive experience, already 68 years old, has led him to great teams in Europe such as Villarreal (2004-2009), Real Madrid (2009-2010), Málaga (2010-2013), Manchester City (2013-2016) , West Ham (2018-2019) and Real Betis (2020-present). Between all his stages he has directed up to 797 meetings as head coach.
Real Betis, an ambitious project
Under the orders of the Andalusian club, the South American coach is destined to continue making history: dfter joining the Europa League in his first season at the helm, the sports management wants to play a good role in the second top European competition and improve its role in LaLiga. Players like Borja Iglesias, Fekir or Canales they are featured as key figures this season.
At the moment, Real Betis is in second position in the Europa League with six points and faces a key double game against Bayer Leverkusen to tie the classification to the final rounds. In LaLiga he is in eighth position with 12 points, the same as Barcelona and against Villarreal he is looking for three important points before the second national team break.
