Actor Harry Lennix, interpreter of General Swanwick in the DCEU, confirmed this week what was already much rumored: that his character is actually one of the seven original members of the Justice League, hailing from the planet Mars. Known as J’onn J’onzz, Martian Detective or Martian manhunter, now we also know that this superhero gifted with the ability to shapeshift will be revealed in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the highly anticipated event – in miniseries format – for HBO Max.
In an interview with Collider, Harry Lennix made it very clear: « I am Martian Manhunter », and immediately expressed thanks to Zack Snyder, who will finally be able to premiere his version of Justice League because « the fans demanded it, that his vision receive a fair hearing. »
In March 2020, months before the release of the Snyder Cut was officially announced, the director shared on the social network Vero a storyboard of his Justice League (ignored in the unfortunate version of Joss Whedon) where Lois Lane and Martha Kent they chat while drinking coffee in an apartment. Immediately, as soon as Martha says goodbye and is left alone in the corridor, the latter unexpectedly transforms and takes on the appearance of the Martian Detective, who would have pretended to be Superman’s real adoptive mother during his talk with the journalist.
It is worth saying that in the Zack Snyder’s Justice League trailer, there are a couple of shots with actresses Amy Adams and Diane Lane that would anticipate that scene captured in said storyboard. After all, Harry Lennix also confirmed to Collider that (as part of the reshoots) the necessary material has already been filmed to solve the appearance of J’onn J’onzz in the upcoming extended haircut, with his natural reddish eyes and complexion. greenish.
The 56-year-old histrion also said that he participated in Man of Steel (2013) and Batman v Superman: The Origin of Justice (2016) without having knowledge about the true identity of his character in the DCEU; in fact, he thought that General Swanwick would have no greater relevance within the franchise, after the solo Superman film. On the other hand, although Lennix was included in the cast of Justice League (2017) from the beginning, he would not have been able to shoot his scenes – due to scheduling problems – before Whedon replaced Snyder in the director’s chair and Martian Manhunter’s intervention was ruled out.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League, composed of four parts, plans to premiere on the HBO Max platform in March of this year. Excited?

Toño Guzmán I have a very bad memory. Out of solidarity with my memories, I choose to lose myself too. Preferably in a movie theater.
