Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings just premiered – 95%. Something we’ve all taken for granted for a while now is that the characters who star in MCU movies are going to be part of the Avengers in one way or another. The great exception has been the Guardians of the Galaxy. Technically we might think that they are part, but in reality they are an independent team.

The point is that in Phase 4 there has been the question of to what extent the Avengers continue to exist. In the Disney Plus series we have no longer seen them as a unit, really. The point is that these have also focused on very particular narratives that do not show us the complete panorama of the MCU. That said, we all assumed that Shang-Chi wasn’t going to be introduced to live in its own corner of the universe and that’s it. We all thought that if he was going to have his movie it’s because he’s going to be part of the Avengers.
Before the tape was released, there were a couple of clues in that direction. The first was when Simu Liu said in an interview for The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted to be part of the Avengers, but that he didn’t know anything about it (aha):

In terms of what follows, I know that what I have in mind is the same as what others think and hopefully there are Avengers in the future, somewhere. Obviously, I don’t know anything about that, but being a huge fan of the entire franchise, I know that’s the gold star.
Then Kevin Feige had a conversation with Comic Book in honor of the imminent release of the film in which he threw a bomb. He said that in the movie we were going to see a scene similar to when Nick Fury told Tony Stark that he was not the only hero in the world. That scene was the first indication of the existence of the Avengers. To say that there is going to be an analogous scene is basically to admit that we will see them together in the future. Here his words:
Well, we don’t want to spoil anything, but I think the end of this movie is going to give a pretty good idea of the direction in terms of, at least, how important and how vital and how direct Shang is entering. -Chi in this world. This is going to remind us of when Nick Fury in the Iron Man 1 post-credit scene told Tony Stark ‘You are part of a larger universe, you just don’t know it yet’. And without revealing anything, a very similar thing is going to happen to Shang at the end of this movie.
Then the movie was released and with it came the famous post-credit scene that everyone has been talking about. In it Wong takes Katy and Shang-Chi to a meeting with Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers. The first says “Welcome to the circus.” That was interpreted by all as an unequivocal sign that the two of them are now part of that superhero team.
The thing is that now Marvel has confirmed it so that no one has any doubt about it. They released a new TV spot (via Comic Book) of Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings in which we can hear Ying Nan say “today we thank all those who came before us, who have made us who we are today”. That while we see images of the Avengers. The following words also appear on the screens:
Marvel’s new avenger is here

That dispels any doubts that may exist in this regard. What we really need to ask ourselves is when are we going to see another Avengers movie. Perhaps it will be announced surprisingly in the not so distant future.
