A woman and her two children, ages 11 and 12, were attacked Friday by a pit bull inside their Coral Springs home.
“During the altercation the adopted pit bull, who has been with the family for two to four weeks, launched himself against the 11-year-old boy and the 12-year-old intervened in the defense of the minor and this alerted the mother,” said Chris Wisin, Coral Springs Police spokesman in Broward County.
When the woman intervened, the dog bit her on the hands and arms.
“At that time, the 12-year-old separated the dog from the mother by stabbing him and now he is in a pet hospital receiving treatment,” Wisin explained.
The minors were rushed to a hospital. The 11-year-old has wounds on his face and the 12-year-old behind his head. Both the minors and the woman are out of danger.
The dog will be in quarantine and in two weeks the authorities will determine its fate.
