The Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres said that at the moment “We cannot cede our virtual spaces to those who traffic in lies, fear and hatred”

Aiming to counterbalance misperceptions and provide accurate and reliable information on the coronavirus and COVID-19, the United Nations launched the global “Verified” initiative, led by the Organization’s Department of Global Communication.

“Disinformation is spread online, in messaging apps, and from person to person. Its creators use efficient production and distribution methods. To counter them, scientists and institutions like the United Nations need to reach people with accurate and rigorous information that can be trusted, “Guterres said when presenting the initiative.
