Group calling and video conferencing platforms are taking their hybrid way of working very seriously. But the line that separates work from the rest of daily activities is also becoming less and less visible. A clear example of this is that Microsoft Teams incorporates support for Apple Carplay from this month.
This means that, henceforth, you can participate in work meetings while you are behind the wheel of your car. It doesn’t sound like too much fun, but it is one more feature among many that are added to the Microsoft Teams catalog. Anyway, it is worth clarifying that the support is only for voice calls, since video calls are a risk for road safety.
According to The Verge, Microsoft Teams support for Apple Carplay will allow you to join calls in hands-free mode, using Siri. You have to see what kind of acceptance this feature has, although as of now it doesn’t seem like something destined to be very popular.
It is true that Microsoft intends to integrate Teams to the Windows 11 taskbar and, in fact, has promoted it at the launch of the operating system as one more tool for family communication. However, nowadays the use of the platform is predominantly work. Therefore, it is logical to think that if someone uses this service to communicate with you while you travel, it is very possibly for something related to your work.
Microsoft Teams incorporates more tools for ‘hybrid’ work
Support for Apple Carplay isn’t the only thing coming to Microsoft Teams. The platform also will be compatible with smart cameras, to add functions such as person recognition and active monitoring of speakers through artificial intelligence.
In addition, the mobile version of the service is renewed to simplify quick access to chats, live reactions and the Microsoft Whiteboard. Lastly, The Verge indicates that Microsoft Teams will also debut a feature called Cameo, Which will allow embed a camera image into PowerPoint slides. The objective is to provide greater interaction tools for presentations that are made from a distance. In this case, the function will be available from the beginning of 2022.
