Moto GP: Quartararo still on pole, Marquez forfeit

Moto GP:

A breath ! Fabio Quartararo signed a second pole position in a row at Jerez de la Frontera. To do this, it took the cancellation of Vinales’ last time, finally 2nd. For his part, Marquez drove on Saturday morning before giving up. Finally, Zarco will start from 15th position.

Yamaha are celebrating this weekend in Jerez. And for the second time in two weeks, it was Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) who took the fastest qualifying time. The Frenchman however believed that Maverick Vinales had given him the pole under the checkered flag but the last time of the Spaniard was finally canceled for a passage off track. The blow did not go far for the future teammate of the French who had managed to steal the lap record from him on Saturday morning.

Mark finally forfeit

“We improved a lot on the pace of the race but on the ‘time attacks’ (the quick laps in qualifying) it was more difficult and I am surprised to be on pole,” explained Fabio Quartararo for Canal +. And in fact, although he won last week on the same track, with the track record, the Habs have mainly focused their work on the race. “This is the most important, the pole is nice but the points we score tomorrow (Sunday)”, he added.

And this fight between Quartararo and Vinales will be refereed by the surprising Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) but also by a Valentino Rossi back in the first places with the 4th time in qualifying. All these little people will be all the more motivated as the information of Marc Marquez’s final package was revealed after qualifying. The Spaniard has tried everything, he even performed 20 loops in the morning, just four days after his operation on the humerus, before going to the obvious and having, despite all his enormous courage, to throw in the towel.
