MWC 2023 considers Chile as the second country with the best fixed network Internet in the world: Who wins?

It is normal to read thousands of Internet users daily complaining about the Internet service in different cardinal points of Chile. This review is not intended to change that mindset, as we know that this is the path to a better product. However, we must be aware that there are sites with worse connections.

At least in Latin America everyone has a worse fixed network Internet connection than Chile. The country was weighted as the one with the best figures in this area, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023, which was held at the Fira Barcelona, Spain.

Chile, in addition to being the best in Latin America, was in second place worldwide, according to a review tarreo. Despite some complaints that may exist on social networks, progress in the field of fiber optic network is impressive in the southern territory.

This is a job that is not limited to Santiago. Outside the capital, in places that are far from urban planning, there are installation works that extend the fiber optic network in the country.

And it’s not just the cables underground, the service tries to optimally reach people’s homes, which is certainly what the Ookla report, commissioned to measure these figures, measures.

According to the report from the aforementioned firm, Chile averaged a speed of 205.96 Mbps in the second half of 2022 and so far in 2023. This places it as the best in the Spanish-speaking region and in the top 5 of the world; second place in the first month of this year.

Data provided by the Undersecretary of Telecommunications (Subtel) indicate that of the 4.4 million broadband connections in the country, approximately 63% correspond to fiber optics.

Who beats Chile? According to what can be seen in the graph of Ookla, Singapore. Other Latin countries that appeared on the radar of the best connections, well below Chile, are Brazil, Peru, Argentina and Mexico, in that order.
