According to a recent iPhoneSoft report, they are already defined iPhones that will not be compatible with iOS 15.
According to the list, one of the most popular models of all time in the history of iPhones will stop receiving updates. The report also takes into account the iPad models that will or will not receive the iPadOS 15 update.
IPhone and iPad models not compatible with iOS 15
According to the sources of the report published by iPhoneSoft:
«At this point, it seems that Apple plans to stop supporting iPhones with A9 chips and earlier versions. While that may not seem like a big deal to many, the iPhone 6s has remained very popular in resale markets. “
This premise contemplates iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus were originally released in September 2015, and the iPhone SE that landed in March 2016. These devices have been very popular and have received more than four years of software updates from Apple.
This information is aligned with the report published last November by other means. But going further, iPhoneSoft has also reported that iPadOS 15 “probably won’t be available” at:

By discarding these iPhone models, the list of those that will support iOS 15 would be made up of the models:

- iPhone 11 Pro Max.
- iPhone XS.

- iPhone 8 Plus.
- iPhone 7.
- iPhone 7 Plus.
- iPhone SE (second generation).
- iPod touch (7th generation).
Meanwhile, the iPad models compatible with iPadOS 15 will be:
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
- 9.7, 10.5 and 11-inch iPad Pro.
- iPad Air 3.
- iPad Air 4.
- iPad 6/7/8.
- iPad mini 5.
