The explosion also injured his brother Michael Pekny (27), who was treated for his injuries at Garnet Medical Center in Middletown, said New York Post.

NY State Police said the incident remains under investigation. It was the latest in a series of tragedies caused by faulty gender disclosure devices in recent years.
Earlier this month, a 26-year-old man died in Michigan after being hit by shrapnel from a malfunctioning cannon used at a baby shower.
Another gender-revealing pyrotechnic device caused a massive forest fire in Southern California in September 2020, which burned thousands of acres.
