There was a time, more than 20 years ago, when Chivas signed a contract with Nike and they wore a shirt specially designed for them, it was at the end of the 1997 Summer Tournament, in which El Rebaño was crowned champion, but the pleasure of the alliance lasted only five games. Why?
The mythical Nike 97 in its long-sleeved version (local and visit), what memories or curiosities does it bring you? Will it be of the best #Chivas designs? pic.twitter.com/o9gCAK33d7

The shirt showed a completely renewed design. After your presentation it was very well received by the board and the players, it was quickly placed in the public taste as wellBut there were those who were unhappy: the sponsoring brands that appeared on the uniform.

First it was an airline that replaced one of the sponsors and asked the sports brand to “patch” the previous logo and put theirs on the patch. But the biggest upset was when the Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery protested that its logo was printed in black on the home jersey and white on the away jersey (on the back, above the number), when they wanted it to come out in color (yellow), which completely broke with the design of the shirt. It was also resolved for the moment with patches on the jerseys, but soon after the friction between sponsors continued and Nike preferred to cancel the contract.
It reminds me of the Nike away jersey that Chivas used back in 1997. I love it! 😍 https://t.co/jrfhOCVPeO pic.twitter.com/DGmdYjqjBE

The North American company claimed that the elegance of the design was lost by incorporating all the modifications that the sponsors claimed.
That put an end to the only remembered episode of Chivas wearing a Nike uniform; Later they went through other brands such as Aba Sport, Adidas, Reebok and Puma, who is the one who dresses the Flock today.
