It has been one of Pelé’s daughters, Kely Nascimento, who has been in charge of sending, through social networks, a reassuring message about O Rei’s state of health. The newspaper A Tribuna, from Santos, revealed that the 80-year-old former player had to return to the Intensive Surveillance Unit for a few hours on Thursday due to problems of drowsiness and intestinal inflammation. And, of course, the alarms went off.
As there was no communication from the Albert Einstein Hospital, in Sao Paulo, where he has been admitted since day 1Due to the extraction of a tumor (its nature is unknown) in the colon, concern was raised about a possible worsening of the health of the three-time world champion.
“He is recovering well within a normal frame, I promise”, posted on Instagram Kely Birth, in a message detailing that “It is a normal situation for a man who is already an age, after an operation of these, sometimes, there are two steps forward and one step back.”
Pelé’s daughter explained that her father’s health improved this Friday, after the complications that led him to undergo the ICU for a few hours, and sent a message of optimism: “There is already a lot of anxiety running around the world today and we do not want to be the reason that there is more, the photograph that I published is from a few minutes ago”.
Pelé entered the considered best hospital in Brazil on August 31 for a routine check-up, in which they detected a tumor in the colon. He had to stay in the hospital and underwent emergency surgery on the 4th. O Rei spent ten postoperative periods in the ICU and last Tuesday he was transferred to the ward, where he remains until now, after returning on Thursday for a few hours in the intensive care unit. There is no discharge forecast.
