Venezuelan tequeños or cheese fingers, no matter what you call it, it is a delicious appetizer typical of any party.
To prepare the Venezuelan tequeños you need the following ingredients:
500 gr white cheese, cut into strips and frozen (1 lb)
2 cups flour
5 tablespoons of butter
1 pinch of salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup of water
In a bowl, mix salt, sugar and cold water. Reserve.In another container, add the flour forming a space in the center. Incorporate the egg and butter in the center, then the water with the salt and sugar. Knead very well until the dough doesn’t stick to your fingers.On the worktable, sprinkle a little flour and roll out the dough. With a rolling pin, flatten into a rectangular surface and then cut into strips.Place a strip of cheese on the end of a strip and roll with the dough to form the tequeño.In a pot with hot oil, fry the tequeños until golden brown and crispy. Remove and reserve on a napkin to absorb the oil. Ready to enjoy, you can accompany them with a guava sauce.
