Phoebe Waller-Bridge is best known for the Fleabag series – 100% that she wrote and starred in herself. His virtues as a screenwriter quickly earned him popularity within the industry and he is now one of the most respected and sought-after figures in the business. In addition to being in charge of adapting Killing Eve – 78% for television and producing the series Run – 91%, Waller-Bridge also wrote No Time to Die and will have an acting role in the next installment of Indiana Jones, starring Harrison Ford. Until recently, another of the big projects on the horizon was a reboot of Mr and Mrs smith, with Donald Glover, but it seems that this union will not see the light.

Mr and Mrs smith was the tape that brought together Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and told the story of two spies who are married and do not know the true identity of the other. As each one is hired to kill the other, everything comes to light and their marriage, first on the brink of divorce, ends up improving. The film directed by Doug Liman was a box office success and was moderately received by specialized critics and audiences who considered it unsuccessful and unoriginal, although no one could deny the chemistry between the actors.
In 2007, Doug liman and Simon Kinberg teamed up to film a pilot episode that would follow the story of the film. Of course, Jolie and Pitt were too expensive names for television, so the leads went to Martin Henderson and Jordana Brewster, best known for Fast and Furious – 53%. Unfortunately, the critics were terrible, especially they spoke of the lack of chemistry and commitment between the protagonists, and after these opinions it was decided to cancel the series. In February of this year, it was announced that Glover and Waller-Bridge would star in and produce a reboot series for Amazon.
The mix seemed perfect. Waller-Bridge knows how to mix dark comedy with melodrama very well without falling into repetitions, while Glover has a great touch for character development, as seen in the Atlanta series – 98%. The idea was that both would work together to start filming next year; However, Variety has just confirmed that the actress and producer decided to leave the project after failing to reach an agreement with Glover on the story and how they would approach it.

Originally, who made the new pitch of the series was Donald glover and later both published a video where they confirmed their alliance. The specific reason, beyond a professional disagreement, has not been made public, but the fellow actor in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story – 56% will remain as executive producer. Similarly, Francesca Sloane, best known for her work on the Fargo series, will remain as showrunner for the series.
Now Glover will have to make up for the loss and find a new actress to star in the series. This should happen soon because Amazon you have a list of pending series that you should start putting on your production schedule. Also, don’t forget that there are still various restrictions and protocols to be followed for filming, so no time can be wasted. It is possible that the actor decides to simply replace the actress but avoiding that the new presence becomes involved in the script.
Since the series was in its infancy, it’s not really clear what special twist Glover put on the idea, but this is where the problem with Waller-Bridge could be. It should be noted that nothing indicates that it was a strong lawsuit. Rather, it seems that the writer decided to withdraw amicably by failing to enter into Glover’s vision. They both have contracts to create content with Amazon, so we will surely hear about your new projects soon; for example, rumors indicate that Waller-Bridge could write another installment of Bond.
