premiere, cast and everything you need to know – Latest News, Breaking News, Top News Headlines

When it comes to Middle Earth and JRR Tolkien, it is known that it also deals with one of the most beloved contributions to literature in history. Reason why news about the return of this world to the screens is always cause for celebration. Undoubtedly, one of the most anticipated projects on television is the prequel series of The Lord of the Rings, which although it will not be based as such on the characters of said trilogy -of books or films- it will delve into the mythology created by the British author. We tell you about the premiere, cast and everything you need to know about the Lord of the Rings series.

What is it about?

There is much confusion surrounding his argument. At first it was believed that the Lord of the Rings series would be a direct prequel and its premiere would tell the comings and goings of a young version of Aragorn. However, in early 2019, the production revealed an image of a map showing a configuration of Middle-earth that predates by millennia everything we met in the Peter Jackson films.

In this plane is shown the Island of Númenor, a legendary kingdom that arose from the sea and that sank in a story similar to Atlantis during the end of the Second Age of Middle-earth. This place was the home of the Dúnedain, men who managed to flee before the cataclysm and later founded the kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor. Aragorn is a descendant and heir to these kingdoms, so his name or that of his ancestors could appear at some point in the series.

Either way, the official synopsis of the series also reveals some key points and places that we will see throughout its episodes. Could it be that the central argument of the series is the fall of the Great Kingdom of Númenor? This is the official synopsis:

“The upcoming series from Amazon Studios brings to screens for the first time the heroic legends of the legendary Second Age of Middle-earth history. Set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, this epic drama will take viewers into an era when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, Unbelievable heroes were put to the test, hope hung by the finest threads, and the greatest villain to ever flow from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover the entire world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows a cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they face the much-feared reappearance of evil in Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elven capital of Lindon, to the impressive island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will forge legacies that will endure long after your demise”.
