In an interview with the Reel Blend podcast, the director Quentin Tarantino He said that to comment on Tenet, he thinks he would need to see her a second time. Although in the past he has been very kind to Nolan’s work, he believes that he did not see or understand his latest production well. And that is not at all strange, because it also took him a couple of times to understand his favorite of him: Dunkirk – 92% before actually appreciating it:
I think I need to see her again. That sounds like a cowardly answer, because it is. But to be fair, I don’t think I actually saw Dunkirk until the third time. The first time I saw it I don’t know what I thought of it, I enjoyed it, but it was such a great experience that I didn’t think of it as a movie. It was a bombastic experience that took me twice to finally see the movie in front of me for the feeling of it all.
In case you haven’t seen it, Tenet – 83% is the story of a character, whose name is never revealed, who is recruited by a secret organization to stop a group of terrorists from the future who are sending weapons through time. However, the logic of this element is never fully explained, nor does it seem to have true coherence to such a degree that even one of the characters asks the protagonist not to try to understand it.
The film, which was released in theaters during the pandemic, is considered one of Nolan’s least accomplished works. Although the director has been considered a favorite of critics and audiences for more than a decade, he failed to have the impact of the films that came before him like Interstellar and Tenet – 83%. It is worth mentioning that the first has also been criticized for the convenient holes in its plot.

While Tarantino fans will have to wait until they see the director’s 10th and final film, Nolan’s will be happy to learn that his new film will begin shooting next year and is already in development. It will be a drama, also set in World War II, that will tell how the atomic bomb was developed. The film will be produced and distributed by Universal, a studio that has so far pledged to release all its premieres in theaters exclusively.
