The Ministry of Health has notified this Friday its highest daily number of new infections since the pandemic began: 40,197 new cases, of which 17,039 have been diagnosed in the last 24 hours. Thus, the record registered this Wednesday is broken, with 38,869 cases. The incidence, which continues to skyrocket, is already in the 575.10 cases per 100,000 inhabitants; and 235 more deaths have been reported, which brings the global death toll from coronavirus in Spain to 53,314 people.
Meanwhile, allthe autonomous communities have tightened their restrictionsgiven the growing increase in infections that the ministries have been reporting after Christmas. Most of the measures have been aimed at reducing the limit of people who can meet, limiting mobility, and extending the curfew. Castilla y León, in fact, has advanced the start of the curfew time at 8:00 p.m., although the Government has already warned that it cannot be done according to the current decree of the state of alarm.
The regional governments want to use the advance of the curfew (Madrid at 11 p.m., Aragon, at 10 p.m. and Castilla y León, at 8 p.m.) to stop the escalation of infections before thelack of national home confinement. However, the alarm decree stipulates that the Communities only have the power to advance or delay it by one hour, so in any case it should be between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m.
