The Saints Row saga has created so many incredible things
What remains to be done? It was not an easy decision. To begin with, we thought about everything we had done in the past and the more we did it the more we realized the enormous creativity we have in the studio.
To sum it up a bit, the goal of this product was to make the best Saints Row game to date. We shared what this game needed to be, we knew we wanted to give it a new perspective, so we tried to bring in a lot of new faces and that helped us a lot in reaching this result. That’s when we really hit on the concept.
If it’s a Saints Row game, it has to be an open world, right? And all the madness and action take place here, in a strange and wild city in the desert: Santo Ileso. It was a big change for us, because it is a very different location. The desert is majestic with its relief and its colors. Red rocks, sandy terrain, famous sunsets, postcard landscapes come to mind. It has a lot of history, culture and diversity behind it. The city has a cool motto “Keep Santo Strange”. It’s an ideal phrase for Saints Row. Embrace your quirks, embrace your identity and delight in it.
Now we get to the heart of the tour. The Saints themselves, who are these four friends who get together and take a chance and create their own criminal empire?
We have created a group of characters that everyone would want to invite into their home every day.
The Boss or the boss, it is not cut and the best thing is that it is you. Some kind of charismatic killing machine.
Eli – He wants to build something special. It prefers a hostile takeover to starting hostilities.
Neenah – His way of thinking is very centered on his family. She is passionate about vehicles and wants to be the best driver in the world. A crack.
Kevin – You have come to Santo Ileso looking for your place. He’s shirtless and we don’t know why. He wants to be a TV cook.
By starting from scratch we were able to give more soul to the game and that is the most important thing. You can identify with them. I wouldn’t do those things to pay for my degree, but I understand his motivations at all times.
But who would our bad guys be without the real bad guys? Criminal gangs are their own territory in Santo Ileso. It is what separates you from the control of the city in which you want to rule. What are they about?
Each enemy faction approaches you from a different approach. They have different looks and styles from each other.
Marshall is an international corporation. It happens to be based here in Santo Ileso. They are strategic assassins. They use the latest technology. They are designed to reduce and imprison you.
The Panthers – They are all muscle and physical power. They are part of Santo’s soul. They are brute and robust and prefer the melee attack, and the heavy weapons when they go out to all. If you face the Panthers you measure yourself to their strength.
The idols – They are something completely different. They are anarchists with their own style. They see themselves as icons in the new World Order. They are a cult of personality. What they lack in combat sophistication, they make up for in numbers. Thus, they try to overwhelm the player. The Volition Team
What are you most looking forward to seeing, experiencing, and playing?
We have paid as much attention to detail as possible. We wanted to create a new world full of things to discover, in which everyone could feel included.
Our character team, our customization, the options are incredible. You create the character your way, you build a criminal empire your way, you earn money your way … All of this combined leads us to the philosophy of starting from scratch.
It’s a strange combination that I don’t see in other games of humor, exaggeration, and bad temper. We want you to enjoy the moment, to live that experience, and that experience is to go crazy and have a great time.
Those are the kinds of decisions that I can make and the way that I can play. The most important thing: taking advantage of the Volition experience, the creativity that we have trying new things. With this open world where you can make them come true. All of that has resulted in an exciting Saints Row game.
We began this journey looking for the new Saints, and we concluded that it was time to tell a new story, set in a new city, about a group of friends wanting to create a criminal empire in their own way.
But in the end we found out that the game itself is about being your own boss, about being authentic: yourself. To start from scratch.
Saints Row will be released on February 25, 2022 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, Microsoft’s all-in-one video game and entertainment systems, PlayStation® 4 and PlayStation® 5 entertainment systems, and on the Epic Games Store for PC. .
