San Francisco residents couldn’t believe their eyes on Sunday when they discovered a house in the middle of the street, alongside cars and traditional cable cars. The owner of the building has in fact spent the sum of 400,000 dollars (approximately 329,000 euros) to move his house several streets away, mobilizing a dozen men in the process.
The maneuver, quite risky, finally went off without a hitch. The house was successfully loaded onto a truck. The workers only had to stop a few times in order to cut the branches of the trees lining the streets through which the house passed. After several hours, the house arrived safely, to the delight of its owner.
If the latter asked that his house be moved, it is because he sold the land on which it was located to a developer who is going to build a building there. Even though the house is in need of major repairs, it was worth it. The “rolling” house – which dates back to 139 years – is indeed endowed with great value since it was built in the purest Victorian style which is the charm of San Francisco.
