The figure of Diana represents so many things, from how leading a double life can be tragic to how an accident can generate conspiracy theories. The accessible personality that he had, as well as his terrible death, marked his name and his representation in film and television forever. Naomi Watts had already tried to win over the public and critics with her work on Diana: The Secret of a Princess – 8% and although her acting was good, the script was rather poor and superficial. At the other extreme is Emma Corrin, who managed to evoke the Princess in all her sensitivity and vulnerability in the last season of The Crown – 100%.
Now it’s Stewart’s turn under the direction of Pablo Larraín, who got Natalie Portman an Oscar nomination with Jackie – 88%. The director knows that there is a fine line between respect and curiosity, and these biographical films just seek to satisfy the public’s interest in that regard. Spencer she had an excellent reception in Venice where the actress’s work was praised, from her physique to her English accent.
The teaser didn’t reveal much to us. It is clear that the story will show all the sadness and anger that Diana accumulated throughout her marriage, but now the official trailer lets us see more of what Larraín wants to achieve. The official synopsis says that Spencer will portray a family vacation where it is believed that Diana decided to separate from her husband and get as far away as possible from everything that had to do with royalty. Of course, through flashbacks we will learn more about how he got to that point, under what feelings and desires he got married, what he felt about being a public figure, and his fear of separating.

Something that draws a lot of attention is that at the end of the trailer we can see Diana asking if “they” (royalty) would kill her. Although we do not know the context of the scene, the character seems to be talking about his desire to go with the character played by Sally Hawkins. If so, part of the fear of divorce could be that Diana believed that the Queen could have her killed because she would no longer be under protection by ceasing to be part of the family. This is not new at all. Since Diana’s death in a terrible car accident, there is much speculation about her fate. Some are sure that the Queen organized everything out of fear of revelations that Diana might make about the secrets of the royal family, while others consider that the devastating and surprising death of such a popular figure is not easily accepted and myths are created. and conspiracies around it to make sense of it.
Be that as it may, this little moment tells us that Diana had a genuine fear of the consequences of her decision and many people who accompanied her in her last days confirm that she suspected that they might try to kill her. But the Princess is more than that, she is also a woman who had to fight against various evils, physical and psychological, to get ahead, and she always tried to help others. In the trailer we can see how her children ask her what made her so sad, which is also proof of the attention to the comments that Harry has made about his mother and how he perceived her as a child.
