George Lucas changed the course of cinema with Star wars. Beyond what can be said about the franchise and about certain nonsense of the director that made him alter his cuts several years after its premiere, this is a product that obtained an army of loyal followers and a lot of merchandise to sell for years and years. Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope – 93%, starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, became a success thanks to the fact that the public fell in love with this universe, with its characters and with the possibility of accompanying them on more adventures. Of course, this assured success led the director to work on prequels that were once destroyed by critics, but whose relevance within the canon is now being re-evaluated; especially for the premiere of the new trilogy starring Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver.

Although Star wars It was always present in comics and animated series, the first preview of Star Wars: The Force Awakens – 92% drew attention because many expected a rebirth of the saga for new generations. In the end, the first installment wasn’t too bad, but the sequels were too troublesome. Star Wars: The Last Jedi – 91% showed that Rian Johnson had very specific plans for the characters, plans that did not match the expectations of the fans. The third installment was an attempt to undo the plotted path and the story ended in a very conventional and predictable way.
This trilogy is not the only one that has had production problems. The prequels released in the late nineties did not have the support of the fans, who did not hesitate to constantly attack each new twist in history. But also the first deliveries had to overcome several obstacles. Although it is applauded George Lucas as the sole creator, true success is considered by many to be due to Marcia lucas, the then wife of the director and in charge of editing the film. It is known that she supported the script with ideas that are now key to Star wars, like Kenobi becoming a spirit guide. But it is also well known that the original cut was a disaster and it was she who ended up giving us the film that we all already know.
Marcia lucas ended up working on the original trilogy and maintained respect for the franchise even after it parted ways with George Lucas. Now, she joins the voices that criticize the new proposals born of the association with Disney that have to Kathleen kennedy in front. During a recent interview, the editor of Locura de Verano – 96% spoke of the fury of seeing Han Solo and Luke’s deaths on the big screen.

Lucas spoke with JW Rinzler, fanatic writer of Star wars preparing a book about the producer Howard Kazanjian, and there he clarified his hatred of the new vision for the franchise:
I like Kathleen. I have always liked it. She was always upbeat. She was very smart and she was very bright. A wonderful woman. And I liked her husband, Frank. I really liked them. Now that she runs LucasFilm and is making movies, it seems to me that Kathy Kennedy and JJAbrams have absolutely no idea about Star Wars. They don’t understand it.
Specifically, Han Solo’s death struck him as unnecessary and without justification:
And JJAbrams is writing these stories… when I saw that movie where Han Solo is killed, I was furious. I was furious when they killed him. Absolutely and positively there was no reason for it. I thought, “They don’t understand Jedi history. They don’t understand the magic of Star Wars. Are you getting rid of Han Solo? “
Of course, Luke’s death didn’t make her feel better:
They made Luke disintegrate. They killed Han Solo. They killed Luke Skywalker. And they no longer have Princess Leia. And they are spitting movies every year. And they think it’s important to appeal to the female audience, so now their main character is a woman, who is supposed to have Jedi powers, but we don’t know how she got Jedi powers, or who she is. Stinks. The stories are terrible. Simply terrible. Horrible. You can quote me … JJAbrams, Kathy Kennedy … talk to me.
Lucas highlights points that the public had already made. On the one hand, the fact that Rey’s character is the protagonist was not very well seen among fans, who say that it does not have to do with the fact of being a woman but with the fact that it is poorly written and developed. On the other hand, in this new trilogy many of the concepts about the Force and Jedi powers changed without any warning to precedent. We know it’s not the end of Star warsBeyond the television series that are planned, there are several spin-offs and new trilogies that are being developed, and in that sense it is the perfect time for executives to have a chat with Marcia lucas about.
