Students of La Plata and the Argentinos Juniors directed by Gabriel Milito they tied this Monday 1-1 in the closing of the tenth day of the Argentine League and they failed to take advantage of the tie of the leaders Talleres and Lanús to get closer to the top. Cordoba and Buenos Aires lead with 20 points, followed by Independiente with 19, River Plate with 18 and Racing Club and Estudiantes de La Plata with 17. El Bicho de La Paternal was eleventh with 13.
Students and Argentines took the field knowing that Talleres and Argentinos had drawn against Patronato and Sarmiento, respectively. After more than an hour without goals, Gabriel Florentin scored a penalty for Argentinos in the 70th minute, but Matias Pellegrini, also from a penalty, converted the tie seven minutes from the end of the game. Argentinos had more possession, but Estudiantes was more effective in the shots on goal.
In the other game played this Monday, the Velez Sarsfield directed by Mauricio Pellegrino beat Unión de Santa Fe 4-0. The goals were made in the second half Luca Orellano, Lucas Janson, Juan Lucero and Ricardo Centurión. This result leaves Vélez tenth with ten points and Unión nineteenth with twelve.
On this tenth round, the top eight in the standings tied. Talleres equaled without goals with Patronato (0-0), Lanús with Sarmiento (1-1), Independiente with River Plate (1-1) and Racing Club with Banfield (0-0). Atlético Tucumán and Colón, seventh and eighth with 15 points, tied with Arsenal and Newell’s Old Boys, respectively.
The one who took advantage of all these draws was Boca Juniors, who beat Rosario Central by 1-2 and climbed to ninth position upon reaching 14 points.
