One of the great soap operas of the NBA season ended with the arrival of James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. The guard so far in the Rockets has declared in absentia in recent weeks, ending his stint in Houston to try to force a trade.
Thus the Nets will form a ‘big three’ that puts them directly among the candidates for the title, with the aforementioned Harden, MVP Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, as long as the latter decides to get involved and commit to the team, something that he has not precisely proven in recent times.
The Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers have been the key teams for Harden to end up landing in Brooklyn in a trade that has involved four franchises.
The Nets host the 2018 MVP and a second-round draft pick, sending Caris LeVert and a second-round pick to the Pacers. The Rockets, for their part, receive Oladipo, Dante Exum, Rodions Kurucs, three first-round picks from the Nets (2022, 2024, 2026), the first from Milwaukee in 2022 that they had in Clevenand and four selection change options with the Nets in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027. Finally, the Cavaliers will host Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince.
