The New England Patriots had their first day of triumph in the new season of the National Football League (NFL) with the victory they achieved this Sunday on the road 6-25 against the New York Jets.
They also did so under the direction of their new quarterback, rookie Mac Jones, who looked sagacious and efficient again, running backs Damien Harris and James White scored via carries and the Patriots (1-1) began to give the winning version of the future.
Quite the opposite of what happened with the Jets, who suffered the second straight loss led by fellow rookie quarterback Zach Wilson.
With my sights set on the rookie quarterback duel, Jones shone as Wilson suffered four interceptions, two from cornerback JC Jackson.
Jones, the 15th overall pick in the college draft, completed 22 of 30 passes for 186 yards with the Patriots, a week after making his day 29 of 39 debut in a loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Jones’s performance was efficient enough for him to the New England team defeated the Jets for the eleventh time in a row, and more with Wilson throwing passes to the wrong team.
While the Patriots returned to Boston with the confidence of going down the path of a team that will seek to be once again in the elite of the NFL, the Jets are again in the great dilemma of finding the winning way for the future.
