This time, it is the Ministry of the Interior, sanctioned for the abusive use, outside any legal framework, of drones equipped with cameras, in particular to monitor compliance with containment measures. On Thursday January 14, the National Commission for Informatics and Freedoms made public the sanction against the Ministry of the Interior, decided on January 12 following a control procedure initiated last May.
The State is not punished by any fine, quite simply because the Cnil does not have the power to do so. The Cnil “thus asks the ministry to cease all drone flights until a regulatory framework authorizes such processing of personal data or until a technical system preventing any identification of persons is implemented“, says the institution in a press release.
