The veto of Trump on social networks also reached YouTube

15 minutes. YouTube suspended the channel of the president of the United States (USA), Donald Trump. Therefore, he will not be able to upload new content for at least 7 days, almost the time remaining in the term of the political leader who faces similar measures on other social networks, after his followers stormed the Capitol.

YouTube detailed on Tuesday, on its official Twitter account, that the decision was adopted “in light of concerns about the continued potential for violence“.

The measure assumes that Trump “temporarily cannot upload new content for minimum 7 days” in Youtube.

“Given current concerns, we will also indefinitely disable President Trump’s channel comments, as we have done with other channels where there are security concerns“said the company.

YouTube indicated that, after a review, it proceeded to remove new content uploaded to Trump’s channel for “violating” its policies, without going into further detail.

Other networks

This is the latest in a series of measures taken by social networks after Trump supporters attacked the US Legislative complex on January 6. The events caused 5 deaths, including a policeman.

Last Friday, Twitter permanently suspended Trump’s account. He did so before “the risk of further incitement to violence.”

After temporarily suspending Trump’s account, the social network definitively deprived him of that tool, with which the outgoing president had issued more than 55,000 messages for more than 11 years and in which he had 89 million followers.

Also Facebook and Instagram blocked the access of the president to their accounts, at least until the handover is completed on January 20. Twitch and Snapchat deactivated his profile indefinitely.
