Netflix has released the official trailer for ‘Destiny: The Winx Saga’, live action adaptation of the popular Italian animated series, ‘Winx Club’. The video shows a first look at the main characters of the series led by Abigail Cowen (‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’) in her role as Bloom, leader of the Winx Club and one of its founding members. The series will premiere on the channel on January 22, 2021.

The first season consists of six episodes and narrates the passage to adult life of five fairies students of Alfea, a school in the Other World. There they must learn to master their magical powers, as well as manage the love affairs, rivalries and monsters that threaten to destroy them.

Alongside Cowen, the series stars Hannah van der Westhuysen as Stella, Precious Mustapha as Aisha, Eliot Salt as Terra, Elisha Applebaum as Musa, and Sadie Soverall as Beatrix. Rounding out the cast are Freddie Thorp as Riven, Danny Griffin as Sky, Theo Graham as Dane, Jacob Dudman as Sam, Eve Best, Robert James-Collier, Josh Cowdery, Alex Macqueen and Eva Birthistle.

The live action series is produced by Brian Young (‘The Vampire Diaries’), Iginio Straffi, Judy Counihan and Kris Thykier for Archery Pictures. Brian Young himself serves as executive producer and showrunner on this project whose main photography work has taken place in Ireland.

The animated series was created by Rainbow Group CEO Iginio Straffi in 2004 and has been on the air for almost 15 years. Due to its enormous success in both Europe and the US, the series has spawned a growing franchise consisting of two spinoff series, merchandising, a doll line, and video games.

‘Destiny: The Winx Saga’ It is the second collaboration between Netflix and Rainbow Group, as they previously did the same to produce the animated series / spin-off ‘World of Winx’.
