Police officers acted last Friday in the eviction of a illegal party in a costume shop of the municipality of Pontevedra and in which more than twenty people participated, who breached the restrictions imposed by the health pandemic.
The Local Police of Pontevedra went to the property at around 7:30 p.m., after complaints from neighbors about loud music and voices inside the establishment, a costume shop that is currently not active and is located in the Plaza del Teucro, in the historic center.
The person who opened the door to the agents, who identified himself as a relative of the owners, claimed to have permission to use it as a rehearsal room and that, at that time, there were three people who were inside rehearsing (since they had a music group). However, the agents heard more voices than corresponded to three people and appreciated excessive amounts of tobacco smoke for that number, so they requested the reinforcement of a second patrol to inspect the interior.
Once inside, a total of 26 persons that were hidden in various places in the premises, such as under a blanket with which the group’s drums were hidden, behind doors, a sofa, under a table, among the costumes themselves or in an interior patio, among others.
For being in a social gathering without being together, the penalty is between 600 and 3,000 euros. Also, there were people who they skipped the imposed perimeter, coming from Pontevedra, Marín, Poio, Vilagarcía and Cangas and they face a fine that is between 600 and 3,000 euros. For the owner of the premises, the sanction can range from 3,000 to 20,000 euros for holding a party not authorized by the Covid regulations in force in Pontevedra.
He also faces a infraction of urban discipline, for carrying out an activity for which the premises lacks a license, which could lead to a serious offense, with a penalty ranging from 301 to 30,000 euros, or a very serious offense, with a penalty ranging from 30,001 to 600,000 euros.
