The Spanish agronomist Jesus Quintana Garcia, director for the Americas of the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), has been released two days after being kidnapped in southwestern Colombia, diplomatic sources reported Monday.
The Spanish embassy in Colombia confirms the release and says that Ambassador Pablo Gómez de Olea spoke by telephone with Quintana, who is on his way home to Cali, capital of the Valle del Cauca department.
