Washington authorities have been forced to require units of the National Guard from Maryland and Virginia, neighboring states, as well as from a rapid reaction force specialized in riots.
On January 6, as the two houses of Congress met to certify Biden’s electoral victory, a violent crowd stormed the Capitol, taking it for several hours and with the result of four deaths among the protesters, one of them from a gunshot wound, and a policeman from a blow to the head.
Trump instigated the crowd in a previous speech in front of the White House. In some cases, some of the participants had already notified their intentions on the internet.
Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy told the Washington Post on Tuesday that they should be careful when sending the National Guard from other states to Washington, as there are threats of riots during the inauguration not only in the capital, but also in the government offices of the 50 states of the country.
