The General Secretary of Sports and Physical Activity, the Federació d’Entitats Excursionistas de Catalunya (FEEC) and the Onat Foundation jointly organized a act in memory of Sergi Mingote in the CAR of Sant Cugat. The main issue was to remember the sporting and vital trajectory of the mountaineer, who died at the beginning of the year while trying to ascend to K2.
About 150 people attended the event, among which there were relatives and friends of Mingote, as well as various personalities from the political and social world of Catalonia, among which the Secretary General of l’Esport i l’Activitat Física stood out, Anna Caula.
This Thursday, September 16, It was just eight months after the fateful accident on the mountain that ended the life of Sergi Mingote. The tribute was headed by the motto ‘Somia great‘(dreams big), in reference to the great career of the mountaineer, both sportingly and in his most supportive field with various projects.
Other well-known personalities who attended the event were the head of the opposition in the Parliament of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, the director of the Car, Ramon Terrassa, the Secretary for Health Care and Participation of the Department of Health, Meritxell Budó, and the President of the UFEC, Gerard esteva, among others.
The sporting career of the alpinist from Parets del Vallès consisted of various ascents to Everest, the highest peak in the world, the ascent to K2 and Broad Peak in just seven days in 2018, or the ‘Solidary Project‘when it rose to six of the world’s fourteen major peaks in just one year and two days. To close the act, Mingote’s wife, Miriam roset, thanked the love and affection that people have shown throughout all these months.
