The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Hungary with playing behind closed doors his next match of the qualifying phase for the Qatar 2022 World Cup and pay a fine of 200,000 Swiss francs, for the racist behavior of his fans in the match against England on September 2.
After analyze and take into consideration all the circumstances of the case, specifically the seriousness of the events, the Committee decided that the MLSZ would play its next two home matches of the FIFA competitions without spectators, in addition if the second game is suspended for a trial period of two years.
FIFA confirmed the decision of its Committee on Tuesday: “after assessing all the circumstances of the case, especially the seriousness of the incidents (insults and racist behavior, throwing of objects, use of fireworks, blocking of stairs) “. These insults were carried out by a significant number of fans against England, also in the qualifying match for Qatar 2022.
The Commission also decided that “in case of recidivism during the next two years, another sanction match would be applied“to Hungary, who will carry out the punishment announced today at their next home match on next October 9 at the Puskas Arena in Budapest against Albania.
“FIFA firmly and clearly rejects all forms of racism or violence, as well as any other type of discrimination or abuse, and will not tolerate such aberrant behavior in football at all“, assured the organism.
