U.S. : Russia records a record of covid-19 infections for the second consecutive day

Russia registered 29,039 cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the second record of consecutive daily infections, the country’s health authorities reported this Sunday.

According to official statistics, during the past day in Russia 457 people died with coronavirus, so the number of deaths caused by covid-19 since the beginning of the epidemic rose to 43,141.

Moscow, the main infectious focus of the country and where the vaccination campaign against covid-19 began this Saturday, added another 7,512 cases and 72 deaths from this disease.

The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobianin, has stated that it is planned to vaccinate up to 7 million Muscovites and that it is planned to increase the vaccination centers in the city from 70 to 170 soon.

In the first stage of the campaign, only people between 18 and 60 years old who belong to risk groups, such as teachers, health workers or social workers, can be vaccinated.

Vaccination, on a voluntary basis, is carried out by appointment, which is requested through the internet on the City Council services portal.

According to Sobianin, several thousand Muscovites have already signed up to receive the nationally produced Sputnik V vaccine, a binary compound, the two preparations of which are administered three weeks apart.

For the moment, the authorities have not offered information on how many Muscovites went to the vaccination centers on the first day of their operation.

Russia, which accumulates more than 2.4 million cases, is the fourth country in the world after the United States, India and Brazil in the number of positives for coronavirus.
