USA :31 immigrants are rescued in Lanzarote and a canoe with 55 arrives in Gran Canaria

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Aug 1 (EFE) .- Thirty-one immigrants of sub-Saharan origin were rescued last night when they were aboard a tire less than a kilometer off the coast of Lanzarote, while another 55 have arrived this morning. in a canoe directly to the Arinaga pier (Gran Canaria).

As reported by Efe sources of Maritime Salvage, the inflatable was sighted this Friday when it was half a nautical mile from the Jameos del Agua, in the north of Lanzarote.

Maritime Rescue asked a fishing boat that was in the area, the Blue Sea, to stay with its occupants to avoid accidents until Salvamar Al Nair arrived, who proceeded to the rescue around 9:25 p.m.

The group consisted of twenty adult men and eight women, in addition to three minors. All of them were transferred to the port of Arrecife, the capital of the island.

Salvamento Marítimo had an alert open in that area of ​​the Canary Islands due to the departure on Thursday of an inflatable with thirty people on board from Guelmim, a province of Morocco whose coast is between 250 and 300 kilometers from Lanzarote.

On the other hand, this Saturday, at around 7.20 am, a cayuco was detected apparently adrift less than a mile from the port of Arinaga, in the southeast of Gran Canaria.

When the Salvamar Menkalinan arrived in the area, its 55 occupants, also of sub-Saharan origin, had already managed to reach the pier in that town by their own means, the Red Cross and Maritime Salvage have reported.

At the moment, the process of first health care for people who were on board that boat is underway, of which there are no further details at the moment.
