USA :Celaá, Illa and the communities try to agree on an anticovid school year

Madrid, Aug 27 . .- The Ministers of Education and Health, Isabel Celaá and Salvador Illa, respectively, meet this Thursday with the autonomous communities in a mixed Sector Conference whose sole theme is the start of the 2020-21 school year , for which the educational community demands maximum anticovid guarantees.

The meeting is held electronically and with the presence also of the Minister of Territorial Policy, Carolina Darias, and on this meeting parents, teachers, students and directors of centers have their hopes for reaching agreements on measures to avoid contagion.

Although in June Education published some prevention measures in schools and each community has been degrading its protocols against the coronavirus in the classrooms in recent days, there are still doubts about what age should be forced to wear the mask in schools, If the temperature will be taken from the students when they arrive to class, in the classroom or the parents will have to do it at home.

The hiring of more teachers to lower the number of students per classroom (a maximum of 15 to 20 children per teacher is recommended) or measures to help parents who have to stay home to take care of their children if they are infected or quarantined are other concerns.

This week, the director of the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies, Fernando Simón, reported that this Thursday’s meeting will produce a basic document on reducing associated risks that implies how schools have to be prepared.

And another document, which will be prepared by Health, on how to act before the appearance of cases or outbreaks in an educational center.
