Yakuza creator confirms new game in development

The creator of the Yakuza saga has just confirmed that there is a new game in development

Yakuza: Like a Dragon came out a few weeks ago around the world for PS4, One and Xbox Series as the new start of the SEGA franchise. In this new installment we left behind the previous protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, to undertake a new journey with Ichiban Kasuga. On the occasion of the live to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the IP, we have learned that already there is a new video game in the franchise that is already in development.

A new Yakuza is coming

It has been the colleagues of the DualShockers website who have been in charge of echoing this information. The director and creator of the Yakuza saga, Toshihiro Nagoshi, through a streaming made last weekend for the 15th anniversary of the franchise, revealed that Ryu Ga Gotoku is working on a new game. Then we will leave you with the statements of the Japanese:

« I will repeat what everyone has been saying – referring to the other producers. We can’t help but thank our fans who have supported us for so long. It is thanks to our fans that we can continue to challenge ourselves and move forward. I think we work on each new game as if it were the last we were going to make, and that’s one of the reasons we can always do our best. I can also confirm that we are already working on the next game. «

The information from the DualShockers medium indicates that throughout the live show, and based on previous live shows, it has been possible to extract the idea that in the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has the desire to continue progressing in the story of Ichiban Kasuga. The new protagonist has a much more carefree character than Kazuma Kiryu, but at the same time he knows how to carry the weight of the yakuza honor that so characterized the ‘Dragon of Dojima’.

Remember that recently, Sega announced the sales figure of the Yakuza saga, being an unprecedented success especially in Japan, and that, little by little, in the West they are being sold in stores and players value it as games niche. We will be on the lookout for any new information on a possible playable sequel with Ichiban Kasuga. Will we see Yakuza: Like A Dragon 2 or a new IP with another protagonist?
