It is no secret that the British writer Neil gaiman, which both stops novels and scripts for comics and movies, has quite a good reputation and a large number of followers. His and Roger Avary’s is the libretto for Beowulf (Robert Zemeckis, 2007) or for three episodes of Doctor Who (Sydney Newman, since 2005) and, in recent years, adaptations of his works are booming. There we have Lucifer (Tom Kapinos, 2016-2021) and American Gods (Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, 2017-2021), in addition to Good Omens (from 2019) and the future The Sandman (since 2021), which he has taken care of himself.
And, in this day of news from Netflix, such as the first teaser of the fourth season of Stranger Things (Matt and Ross Duffer, since 2016), Ozark (Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams, since 2017) and Cobra Kai (Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, since 2018) or the second of The Bridgertons (Chris Van Dusen, since 2018), have also released the from the first season based on the comic series about Dream.
A good team with Neil Gaiman to bring ‘the Sandman’ to life on Netflix
If the only writer of the publications is Neil Gaiman but many cartoonists dipped into the numbers of The Sandman, for Netflix television fiction collaborates with David S. Goyer, responsible for Blade: The Series (2006), Flahforward (2009-2010) with Brannon Braga, Da Vinci’s Demons (2013-2015), Constantine (2014-2015) and the recent Foundation (since 2021), and with Allan Heinberg, to which we only owe The Catch (2016) from the hand of Kate Atkinson and Helen Gregory.
As series creators, of course; but the one has also signed the scripts of several films, Dark City (Alex Proyas 1998), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Zack Znyder, 2016) and Terminator: Dark Fate (Tim Miller, 2019) among them, and the other, that of Wonder Woman (Patty Jenkins, 2017). So they don’t seem like bad company to Neil Gaiman.
Either, the cast members. To begin with, Tom Sturridge (Mary Shelley) as the aforementioned Dream, and to follow, Stephen Fry (V for Vendetta) as Gilbert, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Roderick Burgess or David Thewlis (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) as John Dee, among others. And some of them appear in the first teaser from The Sandman, which, as we say, you can already take a look.
